Cinnamon Chicken Bites with Guacatziki Dip

Day 0 - Early Start

It took a long time for Daniel to convince me to try the Whole30 program. I thought it was too restrictive and just another silly fad diet that does more harm than good. It’s not fair to judge anything without at least spending time learning all the facts before deciding on a final opinion, so I agreed to read Melissa’s Hartwig’s book to learn more.


After reading the book and doing some additional research, I changed my mind.

The Whole30 program is not a weight-loss diet, it is a 30-day dietary experiment that eliminates certain food groups from your diet, which may be negatively impacting your health and fitness without even realizing it. By eliminating them completely from your diet for 30 days and carefully reintroducing them one by one, you can learn how food impacts your body and mind, so you can make better decisions in the future. It was tough to admit to Daniel that my initial opinion was wrong, but you have to give credit where credit is due.


One of the biggest barriers for people completing this program is feeling too restricted and overwhelmed figuring out what to eat. A common complaint we’ve heard is getting bored with cooking the same things. People are too focused on what they cannot have and do not realize that what they can have provides endless possibilities. So we’ve decided to share our Whole30 approved recipes to help others with their journey.


Even though our official first day is tomorrow, we decided to start early and try out this new recipe that’s Whole30 approved to snack on while we watch the Oscars.

We combined two of our favourite dips guacamole and tzatziki and created a Whole30 approved guacatziki to dip cinnamon chicken bites! It sounds like a weird combination, I know, but trust us, it works! If all of Daniel’s Whole30 approved meals will be as tasty as this one, this dietary experiment is going to be a breeze!



Chicken Bites Ingredients

  • 1 chicken breast per person

  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric

  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • Sea salt and pepper

  • Olive oil

Guacatziki Dip Ingredients

  • 1 avocado

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • ½ cucumber grated

  • 1 lime juiced

  • Cilantro

  • Salt

  • Dash of olive oil

Chicken Bites Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breast in cubes. Season in a bowl with turmeric, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Mix together with a dash of olive oil.

  2. Bring a pan to medium-high heat and fry the chicken with some olive oil.

Guacatziki Dip Instructions

  1. Cut the avocado by running a knife around it (from top to bottom) and twist in half. Pull out and discard the seed. Using a spoon, remove the flesh and place the avocado into a medium sized bowl.

  2. Mince the garlic or use a garlic presser and add to the bowl.

  3. Grate the cucumber in the bowl. Cut the lime in half and squeeze both halves into the bowl with the avocado.

  4. Add salt, some fresh cilantro and dash of olive oil.

  5. Mash the avocados and stir all ingredients together.
